Flight of the Canary
AishAin 2008
Flight of the canary
spurred by death on the lands
fly it goes
never to return.
Feelings torn and ripped apart,
the canary seeks solace
in a birch far away
nursing its wounds,
caressing its soul.
The canary flies
never stopping to think of the consequences
not even turning back
The canary zooms on
the solace an ever-beckoning hunger
a force to reckon with.
The canary cries a wilful song as it flies over maples and beeches
soulfully shattered
Her song melodic and joyful to the ignorant
painful and heartbreaking, however, to the knowing
As she flies
the canary continues singing loudly for the world to hear
to her heart's content
Basking in the coolness of the winds
laying back
leaving the whispers above
to carry her despair and hurt away.
Then, she sees solace at last
the canary's speed increases
She has reached now
she is torn and melancholic
But she knows,
she will be happy once again.
